Victory Point The Mallee Root

Vintage Notes

The 2022 Vintage was a cooler than usual summer, with moderate temperatures during the ripening periods. This created an extended ripening season. Which allowed for gradual flavours develop.

Cabernet Sauvignon & Petit Verdot picked on 8th April 2021; Malbec picked on 18th March.

Winemaking Notes

On delivery to the winery, the fruit is hand-plunged in open top fermenters, which helps contribute to the soft generosity. Spending twelve days on skins gives the wine good flesh and bright fruit with a refined tannin profile. It is then barrel aged in French oak for 15 months (of which 35% of the oak is new), with a secondary fermentation occurring in the barrel. The final blend is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot.

Tasting Notes

• On the nose, notes of cassis and plum intertwine with sweet toasty oak nuances
• A subtle floral perfume enhances the aromatics.
• The palate is smooth and rounded, with a silky texture. Bright red currants emerge. Providing a lively
