2021 Pinot Noir
The 2021 Vintage
The growing season was a mild Spring with reasonable but no extreme rainfall, which was excellent for the vines. November was significantly wet – double the long-term average with 14 days of rain. As harvest was commencing in early February, the region again saw significant rainfall, which was great timing for later ripening red varieties.
Our Pinot Noir was hand harvested on the 26th February ay 12.2 Baume.
The Winemaking
The fruit was hand-plunged in small batch open-top fermenters with 4% whole bunch, with a total of seven days on skins before spending nine months in used French oak barriques.
Tasting Notes
• Cranberry and raspberry sits over a forest floor earthiness
• A hint of black pepper with oyster shell sits in the background of the red fruit perfume
• A supple palate showing red currant and sour cherry
• Driving crunchy red acidity freshens and cleanses the palate
