2017 Rosé
The vintage 2017 growing season was challenging in Margaret River. Cool growing conditions together with high summer rainfall brought pressures to the vineyard team. Attention to the vines over the summer period resulted in the ripening of our fruit, disease free.
The fruit for our Rosé was picked in small batches on 21st March, 2017, just prior to a significant rainfall event.
Vinification
On delivery to the winery the whole bunches were de-stemmed, crushed and pressed with minimal skin contact. The wine was then settled and racked off lees before being inoculated with a yeast (traditionally used for pinot noir) to bring out the spice and savoury flavours. Approximately 45% was barrel fermented in neutral oak to contribute to the complexity. The wine is made from the cabernet franc (50%), pinot noir(45%) and malbec (5%) grapes.
The completed wine is 13.5% alc/vol.
The wine was bottled with screw cap closures on 26th June, 2017.

50% cabernet franc, 45% pinot noir, 5% malbec destemmed, crushed and pressed, 45% fermented in used oak. Bright pink, tinged with salmon; flooded with flavours ranging from red fruits on the fore-palate, moving to savoury/spicy on the finish. Has attitude and length, the barrel ferment component providing an extra degree of texture and structure. Very good value.
