2018 Pinot Noir
The vintage 2018 in Margaret River presented us with close to ideal growing conditions for wine grapes. The temperatures and rainfall were remarkably close to average for the season. It was very typical of Margaret River’s Mediterranean climate with a cool, wet winter and a mild, dry summer.
We had a gentle spring, with very few damaging cold fronts to contend with. The rain which fell in December was well timed, filling soil profiles leading into veraison. The dry conditions through autumn meant that picking decisions were able to be made to optimise quality.
Tasting Notes
The wine has red cherry fruit expression with hints towards dark cherry, strawberry mousse, smoky black pepper and dark chocolate. The wine has a juicy, succulent character, balanced by a touch of chalky dryness with cardamon spice, and a lovely velvety texture leads to a long savoury finish.
